F. THOMAS SPORCK, M.D.
BACKGROUND
Having practiced in Charleston for nearly 25
years, Dr. Thomas Sporck is a well-known member of
the Charleston medical community. His experience and
training allow him to help you with a wide variety
of ENT problems.
Dr. Sporck is Board Certified by the American Board
of Otolaryngology. A native of Wellsburg, West
Virginia, he received his B.S. from Otterbein
College in Westerville, Ohio, and completed his
Medical Degree and ENT Residency at West Virginia
University. He served fellowships in ENT pathology
at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, in
reconstructive surgery at the University of Iowa,
and in cosmetic facial surgery in Beverly Hills,
California. He served as a captain in the United
States Army Reserve from 1973-81, and as Battalion
Surgeon for the 429th Engineer Battalion in
Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He came to Charleston in
1980 after spending four years as full-time faculty
at WVU.
He is a past president of the WV Academy of
Otolaryngology-Head and Neck surgery and serves as
the American Academy of Otolaryngology’s key
legislative contact in West Virginia. He is a
regular lecturer to various professional and lay
groups, including school children, on ENT subjects
as well as other health care related issues. He has
a number of professional publications, including
several textbook chapters, to his credit.
Dr. Sporck is the secretary-treasurer and founding
president of the WVA-HNS. He is the current
president of the Charleston-Vandalia Rotary Club and
is president-elect of the Kanawha Medical Society.
He has been the editor of the West Virginia Medical
Journal since 1999. He is the Legislative Governor
of the AAO-HNS. He is vice-chief of the CAMC
Department of Otolaryngology.
Dr. Sporck and his wife, Vicky, have two children,
Aaron and Sarah. He and Vicky are active members of
First Presbyterian church, where he teaches Sunday
School. In his free time he enjoys many outdoor
activities.
