In-House CT Scanning
Ear, Nose & Throat Associates Inc. is pleased to inform you that we
offer in-office CT scanning with our MiniCAT scanner. The MiniCAT
scanner is a unique option of scanning the sinuses and ears. It is an
upright, open scanner that allows the patient to sit in a normal,
comfortable position. This alleviates the fear of "closed" spaces, and
makes it more comfortable for the patient.
The MiniCAT also emits very low radiation as compared to a full body
CT scanner that you would typically find at a hospital or imaging
center. The scan time is also reduced. A scan usually takes around one
minute from start to finish. For children the scan time is reduced
even further. A child's CT scan of the sinuses, for example, only
takes about 30 seconds, reducing patient motion and less time also
means even less radiation exposure.
Another unique feature of the MiniCAT scanner is that you will obtain
the results the same day as the scan. The physician will go over the
scan the same day, normally within a few minutes. This saves the
patient co-pays, another office visit, waiting time, workplace
absenteeism, scheduling, and the hassle of driving to another location
for the scan.
EN&T has received accreditation in the area of Sinus and Temporal Bone
CT by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Computed
Tomography Laboratories (ICACTL).
This is a convenient service that we are delighted to offer to our
patients. Most patients are happy that they can get the results the
same day, making their visit with us more complete.
